What we're about

Handcaptured is a wedding photography and videography studio built around the idea that the most meaningful work feels personal—crafted, not manufactured. That’s why everything we create has a handmade feel and centered around telling your story.

Every wedding is different, and we believe the best moments are the ones that happen naturally. Our approach is calm, unobtrusive, and focused on capturing real emotions as they unfold.

Through thoughtful photography and cinematic film, we document the big moments and the in-between ones—the quiet glances, the laughter, the energy of the day. The result is a collection of images and films that feel honest, timeless, and true to you.

At Handcaptured, it’s not just about how your wedding looked—it’s about how it felt, and preserving that story for years to come.

Meet the Founder

The seeds of Handcaptured began over 25 years ago when 5-year-old Luke was learning how to take pictures with his mom. Luke was very close to his mom who homeschooled him. When he was 12, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away 10 years later. Her unwavering faith and steadfast love laid a foundation in his life, and Handcaptured is a continuation of his mom’s passion to capture the simple and beautiful moments of life.

In 2016, Luke married Taylor and they have two sons: Zion (5) and August (6mos). After living in a self-built tiny house for seven years, they purchased their first home in 2024, a folk victorian cottage built in 1890 in the beautiful Calaveras County hills of California.

Luke was able to go full-time with his photo and video business in 2021, largely thanks to a Youtube video that received 3 million views. That first Youtube check was used to reinvest in equipment that less than a year later would be used to film his first wedding. Since then, Luke has either filmed or photographed over 150 weddings across 15 companies before starting Handcaptured. This experience brought about a passion to bring a handmade experience to the photo and film industry.
